Networking

Wireless internet has come a long way, but simple security logic suggests that hard wired cabling is more secure. Wireless has vulnerabilities that can be easily overcome by direct connection to the network via Ethernet cable.

Certain protocols, such as 802.1x, can prevent unauthorized devices from ever joining the network. MAC Address filtering can also do this. Each device has a unique address, called a MAC address. The network can be programmed to communicate with certain MAC Addresses alone, excluding all others. This allows only authorized devices to connect to the network.
